It's a kind of magic.
When travelling around Tyria, i still cease to be amazed at the beauty of it all.
Every fine detail constantly reminds me of the hard work and time that went into producing Guild Wars.
From small clouds of flies that dance around in a golden beam of sunlight reaching through the foliage of age old trees, to fragile and dew-sprinkled cobwebs swaying in the gentle breeze.
From the clunking of bones hanging gruesomely beneath the skull of an unfortunate predecessor, to the imaginitive stories found amongst the sun bleached bones of Elona.
From the Aurora style light displays upon the Ascalonian tar pits, to the random breadcrust bombs landing "unluckily" upon your head in the lava strewn desolation of the fire islands.
From romantic creature names such as the Tree of Autumn and the Tree of Winds, to the popular character names that we all have come to love or hate for one reason or another.
"For Ascalon!"
"Take that you fiend!"
Shutup Rurik, i haven't finished!
Butterflies and dragons, Oink and Glint,
shimmering streams and towns of rubble,
massive honeycombs and magical maguuma waters.
I could write down a thousand things which inspire the imagination and leave nothing but fond memories, but alas... i have to go kill some more monsters again.
Ladies and gentlemen, i'd like to raise my glass to ArenaNet and say that chapter two can't come soon enough!

I really, really, really want to go back and explore Pre-Searing. But of course the stupid 4 character limit wins again.

*starts singing to queen* Not that I know the words...
I like Prince Rurik, he may be annoying in missions, but he's a brave guy, a little headstrong. If you take the time and actually play the storyline, he was attempting to save Ascalon, doing his best for his people, but he was only one level 10 dude.
Yes, I was the guy that went "Nooooooooooooooooooooo!" When he died.

Who cares, that engine can't handle any form of physics simulation so they had to put invisible barriers everywhere.

Very good. A game that runs on any computer from the middle nineties on has limitations. Boohoo. The game is stunning, now go back to WoW, and climb some walls, and swim. It's obviously what you want.
Back on topic...
I agree. I cannot even fathom how long it took to sculpt the world. A great example, is the area west of Marhan's Grotto. The path goes down into a pool area, and it just awes me every time I think about how much time was spent crafting this land. Most people will never see the hidden corners, or the subtle details that make the game gorgeous.
Rurik... haha, what a funny guy.

There are indeed some great-looking places , especially, off the beaten path.

Would be nicer if there was more of the "off the beaten path". I would really like more outside zones that didnt have a single path to the next mission (id say pre-yaks bend did a nice job of having mass land to explore, but after that it seems like just a path you follow). That and I wish there was more to the desert areas. I know they're desert so not supposed to be much, but things that are randomly placed would be cool, like randomly placed merchants so you have to explore and stuff.

Wouldn't the area between ToA, and Fisherman's/Henge be like that? Not really a reason to go there, other than to explore.

You weren't the only one. I'll admit to sitting there slack-jawed for a while.

talking about rurik: i didnt like it when he died, but when it happened the second time....oh i looooved that.
Guild wars is amazing sometimes, how it looks. I agree though that some totally "off the beaten path" areas would be nice.

Don't you mean everything West of Beacons Perch?
Since Droknars runners were born, the whole of Maguuma and Kryta became an explorable and optional zone.
Off topic a little - shouldn't mantra of resolve have been called "Don't stop me now"? lol
